  • Pauline provided the closing keynote at the Law Society of Scotland’s In-house Annual Conference in 2022 – ‘Pauline Campbell on Inclusivity: Boldly going where no one has gone before.’ It was an absolute pleasure to work with Pauline on this event. Her presentation was deeply personal but also very thoughtfulof the audience, who she was keen to understand more about during the preparation stages and bring into the discussion. She tailored her session well to our delegates and prepared very engaging and provoking visual material to complement her talk. Delegate feedback immediately following the event was excellent. We wouldn’t hesitate to work with Pauline again.

  • Pauline Campbell co-led The Windrush Generation and its Legacy workshop at the National Education Union’s Black Educators’ Conference 2023, the largest Black educators’ conference in Europe.  The workshop was very popular. Pauline prepared a very informative, illustrated talk and took the delegates through the political arena pre- and post-Windrush arrivals, considering a war-torn Britain coming to terms with its recent devastation. She explored with them the incitement of racialist ideas throughout the 1960s and 1970s in which the Black population were blamed for lack of housing and unemployment. She discussed past and current social and political issues, including the hostile environment policy, its impact on the Windrush generation and its descendants. She fired the room with such enthusiasm for her strategies for change, that she received a standing ovation. Typical feedback we received about her considerable contribution to the event included:

    • “Pauline Campbell on Windrush was excellent”.
    • “A really informative and productive workshop.”
    • “She gave me great ideas to use in school.”
    • “Her perspective on past and current issues was very engaging.”
    • “She alit my activism anew.”
    • “Brilliant!”

  • During 2009 – 2014, I held the role of Head of Safer Communities for the London Borough of Hackney, where I worked with Pauline who was a senior lawyer, dealing with all aspects of Anti-Social Behaviour. Pauline’s passion for her work was commendable and we struck up an excellent working relationship. A relationship that continued after I left Hackney, to enter the Metropolitan Police as a Superintendent for Lambeth, Southwark, and Greenwich Roads and Transport Policing Command. During this time, I reached out to Pauline, who attended Greenwich Council and provided a training session on Protocols for dealing with Unauthorised Encampments to ensure fair and reasonable practices were in place. On leaving the Police, I had the pleasure of reading Rice & Peas and Fish & Chips that I found riveting.Pauline and I discussed the book at length and her knowledge of historical and political issues regarding the police and the Black communities was impressive, as well as providing honest and personal accounts of her journey. I am of the opinion every police officer should read this book.

  • I am a practising barrister who has worked with Pauline Campbell in her capacity as a senior lawyer. Pauline’s excellence as a lawyer is matched by her passion for paving the way for those wishing to enter the legal profession. In 2021, Pauline and I provided a seminar to second and third year Westminster University Law Students on “The Diversity of Law”, which focused on the diverse paths into law, different roles and specialisms that lawyers and barristers perform, as well as assisting students on the various schemes and initiatives to assist entrants into the profession. An essay competition resulted in a student gaining one to one experience with Pauline and myself. The feedback from the Assistant Head, at Westminster Law School was excellent. It is a pleasure working with Pauline who is so willing to invest in providing a stepping stone for those wishing to enter the legal profession.

  • Pauline was a guest speaker at events as part of Newham’sCultural Programme, including International Women’s Day and the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in 2023. She is a joy to work with, proving both helpful in the development of content for events, being flexible and open, sharing her wide knowledge and expertise. For International Women’s Day, she was part of a guest panel of speakers who engaged in discussions and questions with local secondary school children. Pauline was thoughtful and insightful in her responses, showing respect to participants and offering valuable advice. I would not hesitate to work with her again, and highly recommend her to others.
